Mm. In a way, I wonder if it's one of the few topics where humans and monsters have the exact same attitude- they're so used to the Surface and so unused to magic, and vice versa, that we have very different viewpoints... but the stars are a new frontier for everyone, still.
Ah, yes, that makes more sense- I was thinking it was surprisingly quick for people to have started writing speculative fiction that included us. Still, I have seen some rather nice work in that genre, yes.
I don't know- judging by the fanfiction that Dr. Alphys keeps sending me, people are always finding new ideas.
[She pauses briefly and looks at him with a puzzled frown.]
Speaking of which, I don't suppose you have any idea how I wound up on her fanfiction mailing list? It's not that I don't enjoy five-thousand-word persuasive essays on which characters should be kissing, I just didn't think we were that close.
I've seen Shakespeare fanfiction. 'Modern' may not necessarily be what is required.
I considered asking to be removed, much the way one does with telemarketers, but I suspected it might lead to Captain Undyne coming down here and yelling at me, which can't possibly be good for business.
On one hand, she probably could come up with a reasonably good novel.
On the other hand... publishing is, I am given to understand, an industry in which success is generally quite heavily linked to one's ability to socialize in ways useful for networking, take very large amounts of criticism, and tell people 'no' very firmly when disagreeing on important creative issues.
Noticeably so, yes- although I doubt she'd be willing to risk trying publication in a monstrous industry either, I have to admit.
[She looks briefly solemn.]
Of course, you'd know better than I would on that subject. I only saw... the aftereffects of that whole disaster. Everyone involved does seem to be doing better these days, thankfully.

So, what is your favorite new discovery, so far?

I believe so. Besides, she's actually a fairly decent writer.
